Executive Director
To date we have helped over 60 at-risk scholars graduate and launch careers in software development, finance, marine biology and health care to name a few. We are currently focused on expanding our team and our ability to support more scholars. Currently, we are seeking an Executive Director to balance an aggressive development plan, continuing operational excellence, and long-term sustainability.
Full-time, Hybrid | Boston, Massachusetts area
The Executive Director’s goals will be:
to ensure the organization delivers on its promises to scholars, donors and partners by strengthening programs, expanding partnerships, and deepening donor engagement.
accountability for planning, executing and continuously refining the programs we have in place, as well as executing on all development efforts as defined by the organization’s Board of Directors and Board of Advisors.
to manage strategic and internal initiatives.
to act as an ambassador for the organization with partners, donors, scholars and their families and the press to promote and expand the mission of Anaya Scholars.
The ideal candidate will have experience growing a mission- or college success- driven organization across all strategic, operating and financial metrics. Familiarity with best practices in donor, student, and volunteer engagement across all communication channels will be a major plus. The right candidate will be able to translate goals into measurable action plans, have exceptional organizational ability, pay close attention to detail and work in a deadline-driven environment.
Position Description
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day operations including all communications with and processes related to key stakeholders
Recruit and onboard scholars, peer mentors and adult mentors
Keep all groups well-informed and engaged
Maintain and expand on relationships with:
Secondary (feeder) schools,
Volunteer and community organizations, and
Program alumni (scholars and mentors)
Monitor all program relationships to ensure engagement, accountability and excellent communication,
Trouble shoot daily issues as they arise,
Manage all stakeholder communications,
Oversee measurement and evaluation efforts to demonstrate impact,
Monitor and refine stakeholder communications, processes as necessary, and
Assign and manage administrative support activities related to meeting these goals.
Oversee career development and internship activities including:
Developing / refining formal and informal channels for developing relationships between Anaya Scholars and hiring organizations,
Identifying resources for and managing implementation of career guidance activities,
Ensure all scholars and their mentors have access to the same level of opportunity and guidance,
Trouble shoot daily internship issues as they arise,
Manage all communications related to internships,
Monitor and refine internship-related communications, processes as necessary, and
Assign and manage administrative support activities related to meeting these goals.
Oversee development activities as directed by the Board Chair, Board of Directors, Board of Advisors and expert third-parties
Identify funding opportunities,
Oversee grant writing, RFPs,
Drive donor management, gratitude,
Raise community awareness, seek out public relations opportunities,
Establish corporate relationships for internships and funding,
Establish and expand relationships with colleges,
Assess opportunities for programmatic expansion and new partnerships,
Develop and manage all communications including brand, social media, website, annual report,
Ensure related events are welcoming and well-managed, and
Assign and manage administrative support activities related to meeting these goals, including database management.
Support other growth and internal initiatives as requested, including
Maintain strong, proactive relationships with the Board Chair, Board of Directors, and Board of Advisors.
Support the Board Chair, Board of Directors, Board of Advisors and third-party experts in positioning Anaya Scholars to scale and grow.
Strengthen the inclusive culture of the organization and support its long-term sustainability through innovation, capacity building, and talent development.
Qualifications
6+ years of general management experience (Executive Director or equivalent), ideally in non-profits, education, workforce development, or related sectors.
Proven track record in program management as well as fundraising and donor cultivation.
Experience managing a budget, solving problems independently, maintaining all internal and external communications, and hiring / managing staff.
Demonstrated success leading growth and organizational change in an environment with multiple stakeholders, including volunteers.
Compensation and Reporting
Competitive salary commensurate with experience, along with a competitive benefits package.
Reports to Board Chair and Board of Directors.
Manages a team of up to 2 FTEs and 0-2 consultants (third-party experts).
