mentor’s corner: december 2025

End of the Year Reminders

Currently, scholars have completed or are wrapping up their semester handing in final papers or writing exams. Many are returning to families and friends for the holidays. This time can be fun, rejuvenating, and sometimes stressful. We urge you to continue to stay attuned to your scholar to see how things are going during these transitions.

Additionally, scholars should be applying to internships right now. Please refer to your Mentorship Handbook on how to support your scholars.

If you need support, please do not hesitate to reach out with questions of concerns!

Social Media Discrimination

Racial discrimination on social media can negatively impact adolescents of color. While this is not news to you, it is a reminder of the challenges of being engaged on social media, especially for young people. Please continue to check-in on your scholars well-being.

Mentor Feature Request

As many of you know, Montanna Cassel, our new Program Administrator, is making website updates and leading our social media engagement.

We would like to present to prospective mentors and other website visitors the diverse educational and career backgrounds each of you bring to the Mentorship program. If you would like to be featured, please email Montanna your headshot photo and 2-3 sentences as to why you became a mentor and/or the impact you have seen in your scholar(s).
