Mentor's Corner: February 2026
Happy New Year! We hope you all had a lovely holiday season with your friends and family. As we head into a new semester, we’re excited to continue supporting you and your scholar in the months ahead.
We have several important reminders and updates to share as the spring term gets underway!
FAFSA & Scholarships
Scholars need to complete their FAFSA 2026 - 2027 application, if they have not done so already. The application process can be daunting and confusing. Check in with your scholar to offer help in completing the application. Many scholarships require students to have submitted a FAFSA application. The deadline is June 30th, 2026, the months go by quickly.
There are 10 scholarships listed here. Please make sure your scholar is taking advantage of these financial opportunities. Scholars were notified in their January newsletter.
Internship Support
The window is closing for 2026 Summer Internships, and several scholars have expressed that they still need support with the internship research, networking, and application process. Check in with your scholar. Think about who you can reach out to in your network to help your scholar find opportunities! Refer to the Mentor Handbook for more guidance.
Eversource is an Internship Partner, which means they will offer hands-on application support to our scholars. Encourage your scholars to take a look at their remaining internship opportunities.
Thanks From Your Scholars
Your time, tenacity, and thoughtfulness has an impact on your scholars. We asked the scholars, "What is the biggest impact your mentor has had on you in your previous semester?" Here are a few of their answers.

"Emotional and mental support. A trustworthy person I can talk to about my worries for the present and future and I love just spending time with her and sharing milestones in her life as well." - Melissa
"This past semester was heavy for me, due to everything that is going on in our country. My community and my family are being closely impacted. My mentor has been of great support during this time, a listen ear and voice of encouragement and kindness." - Aratza
"My mentor, Rajika, is always there when I need someone to turn to for advice. She always try’s her best to put me in contact with people who can help me achieve my goals faster. I am really grateful for her consistent support." - Esther
